Weaving Ceramics: the first cross-sectional experiment of Tracks4Crafts.

In November 2025, three Italian ceramists participated in Belgium in Weaving Ceramics, the first cross-cultural experiment of the Tracks4Crafts project, led by Ian Garcia of the University of Antwerp and organized by Artex and Bokrijk.

Participants experienced an immersive tool originally designed for wicker weaving and adapted for teaching ceramics with augmented reality. The experiment allowed them to observe how digital tools interact with artisans from different European cultural backgrounds, offering valuable data on innovation and cross-cultural learning.

Through Weaving Ceramics, Artex documented the interaction between ceramics and other materials, such as willow, useful information for future experiments, including 3D metal printing. The initiative also fostered cultural exchanges between Italian and Belgian ceramists, with insights into the work of Master Craftsmen such as Pieter Stockmans.
