Officina Creativa Lab by Artex, at the Conventino Fuori le Mura on 20 Giano della Bella Street, opens its doors to children and families in the neighborhood with a rich program of educational, inclusive and free activities.
On Friday, May 9, Artex and the Ganze Women’s Association signed an annual memorandum of understanding to promote cultural initiatives, meetings on the theme of gender equality and a series of creative workshops dedicated to young children.
The agreement, which is renewable, sanctions a collaboration geared toward the social and cultural development of the area, focusing on the enhancement of artistic craftsmanship as a tool for inclusion and participation.
The spaces of the Conventino, a symbol of Florentine craftsmanship, will be made available free of charge to the association to carry out activities aimed at children, families and the Oltrarno community. The calendar includes:

Pottery workshops for children between the ages of 6 and 10 (monthly)

Creative and sensory activities for early childhood (ages 3-5)

Summer craft centers in June and July for elementary school pupils

Multilingual play spaces and animated readings, especially during public events sponsored by Artex

Paper recycling workshops with a focus on sustainability

Neighborhood sports activities in collaboration with local associations

Animation and entertainment during events hosted at the Conventino

Meetings on women’s work and moments of empowerment such as the “Cafe delle Ganze”

Self-mutual help spaces for parents, dedicated to discussion and support
“Opening the Conventino to children and families is a concrete gesture of giving back to the city. The craft becomes a bridge between generations, a place to build relationships and a future,” Artex emphasizes.
The Donne Ganze Association, already active in the San Frediano neighborhood on issues of parenting, citizenship and equal opportunities, will take care of the coordination and conduct of the activities involving educators, artisans and families.
The initiatives will kick off as early as May and will accompany the entire 2025 school and cultural calendar.
