A cultural project that combines sartorial art, accessibility and innovation
FEEL IT is born, an innovative project by MadameFLO that offers a completely new way to experience historical fashion: a sensory journey that is also accessible to blind and visually impaired people, to touch and perceive the beauty of period clothing through touch.
The collection presents a selection of handmade historical dresses, which become true narrative tools. Each fabric tells stories of elegance, craftsmanship and culture-a tactile and emotional experience that transforms fashion into a universal language. The weaves and stitching become a bridge between past and present, restoring life and memory to the material itself.
“FEEL IT was born from the desire to return fashion to its most human and universal dimension: that of contact,” explains Vittoria Valzania, founder of MadameFLO. “Each seam tells a fragment of life. Our intent is to allow anyone to feel it, literally, between their fingers.”
Inclusion and accessibility at the center
The goal of the project is to overcome sensory barriers that often limit access to culture, making fashion a shared heritage.
The initiative includes the gradual introduction of captions in Braille, in Italian and English, to accompany visitors along the exhibition route and ensure a fully usable experience.
Future developments and collaborations
FEEL IT is an evolving project, open to collaboration with museums, cultural institutions and research centers. Upcoming initiatives include:
- temporary tactile exhibitions in museums and foundations;
- educational programs and workshops for schools and cultural workers;
- expansion of the collection with clothing from different eras and cultures;
- creation of multimedia guides with audio descriptions and accessible content;
- traveling events in different Italian cities;
- collaborations with universities to develop innovative materials and tactile technologies.
Tradition and the future meet
With FEEL IT, MadameFLO renews its commitment to the enhancement of sartorial craftsmanship as a living art form, capable of combining tradition, research and social inclusion.
A concrete step toward a new idea of accessible, participatory and deeply human cultural enjoyment.
